Legal Delta-9 Products Hit The Streets Of Florida

In a new wave of “cannabis science”, it is not too out of the ordinary to see products boasting D9 on the front of its packaging. There has been a resurgence within the cannabis community post Covid. It all started with the first wave of Delta-8 products that came about two years ago. Since then, the science has gotten smarter, the loopholes have gotten exposed, and the laws have been allowed to be pushed to where there are now high volume Delta-9 THC products being sold in everyday smoke shops. Even though still considered an illegal cannabinoid, Delta-9 can be a legal component to a product if it occurs in <0.3%, yet we are finding that these newer products are surprisingly close to the real thing.

What is Delta-9 THC?

One of the organic substances that is present in both hemp and marijuana is Delta-9 THC, also known as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. Previously, Delta-9 was only connected to the marijuana plant. However, it can now be produced from hemp in a compatible concentration because of industry advancements. At its base level, Delta-9 is the main psychoactive component that is found in marijuana.   All cannabinoids are probably going to have an impact on the body in some way. The effects, however, may differ according to the cannabinoids you consume. Keep in mind that your experience may vary based on the dosage you consume. Other elements, such as the interaction of cannabis and Delta-9, may also influence your experience. The entourage effect may encourage some of the aforementioned emotions.

How am I seeing D-9 products in my local smoke shop?

You may have observed that it is entirely legal to send these gummies, but how? Federal law considers a hemp product to be fully legal if it has no more than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight in relation to the weight of the other ingredients. Additionally, hemp businesses have found that they can sell goods with 0.3% of fully active Delta-9 THC, which is powerful enough to have the cannabinoid’s well-known effects. The trick? Creating gummies with serving sizes that are large enough for the compound’s 0.3 percent concentration to equal a significant amount of milligrams. Additionally, using heavier ingredients increased the amount of that 0.3%.

Does it work? Dosing?

The effects of these products are possibly the most comparable to a dispensary product. A primary cannabis user can normally feel effects of 25-30mg of quality D-9 THC. This is very transferable for all of these new legal products.

  1. My husband is not a fan of marijuana, but I do hold a medical marijuana card. I told him that the Delta 8 (and now 9) version of THC is becoming much more popular with the smoke shops because all you need is an ID showing that you’re 21 years of age. He does not believe me and I cannot find anywhere online where it states that smoke shops do not require a medical marijuana card. Please advise if I’m correct and where to find this information.

    1. You are correct! As long as it is a legal hemp product following all legal requirements, anyone over the age of 21 can purchase these products in most smoke shops.
